In the challenging context of the pandemic, ReCreate gave life to an icon: the Jack Bag, crafted from micro-perforated advertising canvas. This milestone coincided with the arrival of our loyal ally, Jack — an industrial sewing machine that went far beyond traditional fabric work. It ignited a creative flow that led to remarkable models such as Joana, Julieta and Julia, all sharing the same resistant yet exceptionally lightweight material, perfect for outdoor activities.

During a visit to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, our attention was captured by a peculiar material previously used inside the Museum’s light boxes. Curiosity quickly turned into action, as if the material itself was asking for a new chance to shine. This is how the Jack II Bag was born — brought to the atelier with enthusiasm and given a renewed purpose.

Before its final form was defined, the Jack II Bag went through several tests, including resistance, elasticity and prototyping — all carried out by our experienced Jack. Keeping the functional features of its predecessor, such as two internal pockets and versatile handles, we decided to highlight even more the importance of this essential tool in our creative process.

Reusing materials is a fundamental piece of the sustainability puzzle.

The micro-perforated advertising canvas, now the star of the Jack II Bag, is not just an aesthetic choice; it is a conscious statement in favour of environmental responsibility. This material, originally created for a completely different purpose, now gains a new life, highlighting the versatility and intention behind sustainable design.

The partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation amplifies the meaning of the Jack II Bag. Beyond an artistic collaboration, it represents a shared commitment to promoting sustainability and rescuing undervalued materials. The inspiration found in the Museum’s light boxes is a testament to the infinite potential for transformation hidden in materials that seem forgotten.

The creation of the Jack II Bag is more than an evolution; it is a celebration of the union between creativity, sustainability and a valuable collaboration with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. This article not only introduces the newest member of the ReCreate family, but also highlights the values and vision that drive our brand.
